Welcome to Ashfield News
Hello, Ashfield! Welcome to your new online service covering news throughout the district of Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, and beyond.
First, a bit of background. My name is Matt Bunn and I recently left Nottinghamshire Live and The Nottingham Post, where I started out as Business Editor before taking on my most recent role as News Editor.
I have lived in Ashfield with my wife and two children for the last few years and we love it here. It is wonderful to have so much green space around, the brand new Kirkby Leisure Centre, so many independent shops and pubs to enjoy.
But that is not to say there are not issues that need to be addressed - whether that is the state of our roads, anti-social behaviour and crime or lack of investment in many of our high streets.
I’ve set up Ashfield News after a survey run for residents indicated many people felt there was a need for a new, campaigning voice that would stand up for our communities and keep you informed of what is happening throughout the district - as well as wider Nottinghamshire news that will affect you.
The Ashfield News will, in the beginning, be published once a week, rounding up the latest news and information in an easy-to-digest format free from adverts. My goal is to give you all the information you need in the time it takes to have a tea (or coffee) break.
I also want to hear from you. What are the issues that affect you? Do you have a good news story to tell? Got a fundraising campaign you want to let people know about? Email me at matt.bunn@protonmail.com
