Shop owners 'heartbroken' as store destroyed in fire

The owners of a shop destroyed in a major fire say they are “heartbroken” by the incident.
Six fire crews were called to the blaze at the Urban Road Business Park at 10.30pm on Friday, June 28.
The incident destroyed the Lockdown Tackle and Bait store and affected other nearby businesses.
Firefighters were on the scene throughout the evening and into the early hours of Saturday morning, June 29.
In an update at 7am, the service said the incident had been scaled back overnight and workers were dampening down the area.
A spokesperson added: “Fire investigation is scheduled to take place later today.”
The owners of Lockdown Tackle and Bait published a statement on the incident, saying they were ‘deeply saddened to share the devastating news’.
The statement added: “Yesterday, a fire broke out and completely destroyed Lockdown Tackle and Bait, along with several other nearby businesses.
“Our livelihood went up in flames, and we are heartbroken by this unexpected tragedy.
“The fire brigade is currently investigating the cause of the fire to understand how this occurred.
“We want to thank everyone for their support and patience during this challenging time. We will keep you updated as we learn more and plan our next steps.”
Customers have offered their support to owners of the store.
One regular posted online: “So sorry to be reading this. It wasn't just a tackle shop but it was a place to chat and put the world to rights. Hopefully this all gets resolved quickly so you can get back on your feet".
Another shopper added: “I’ve only recently been visiting the shop over the past few weeks and I’m absolutely gutted for you all.
“Really friendly and helpful bunch of guys and a brilliant tackle shop. I really hope you guys find a way to keep going.
“I’m sure the local community will do their best to help. Such a shame.”
