Police name man found outside Sutton home as murder probe continues
Emergency services were called to the scene in the early hours of December 1
Police have named a man who was found dead outside his home in Sutton-in-Ashfield, as a murder investigation continues.
Officers were called to Northfield Close at 12.55am on Friday, December 1, to reports of a man being found with ‘significant injuries’.
Emergency services were called and CPR was given, but the man died of his injuries at 2.05am.
Nottinghamshire Police has now named the man as 76-year-old Malcolm McGarry.
Detective Inspector Melanie Crutchley, who is leading the investigation, said: “Specialist family liaison officers are keeping Mr McGarry’s family informed about the progress of our investigation, and I’d like to again express our deepest condolences to them at this difficult time.”
Police arrested Peter McGarry, 53, of Alexandra Street in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, and have subsequently charged him with murder.
He was remanded into custody and is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on January 9.
