Major response as plumes of smoke seen coming from Nottinghamshire pub
Several roads in the area around The Blue Bell, Sutton-in-Ashfield, are closed
A number of roads are closed and emergency services have been called to a fire at a closed Nottinghamshire pub.
Several crews from Ashfield Station were called to The Blue Bell in Mansfield Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, just after 3pm on Wednesday, January 3.
According to Google traffic maps, there are road closures across the area, including Mansfield Road, Skegby Road and Eastfield Side.
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We have several appliances attending an incident at The Blue Bell, Mansfield Road Sutton in Ashfield.
“Please avoid the area, road closures will be in place.”
Images taken by Dylan James, above, show huge plumes of smoke coming from the pub. According to an eyewitness, there are multiple fire crews and police on the scene.
The venue has been closed for some time and recently escaped demolition after plans to create homes on the site were rejected.
