Police warning over wanted man
People have been told not to approach a wanted man with links to Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
Stephen Gregory, 54, is wanted on recall to prison.
Residents are urged to call 999 it they see Gregory and not to approach him.
Sergeant Rebecca Jepson, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are working hard to track down this man as soon as possible and are appealing for the public to help us.
“If you have seen Gregory or have any information on his whereabouts please call us immediately.
"Information on his whereabouts can also be given anonymously and in confidence via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
Bumper summer of Ashfield events
Details of a series of summer events taking place across the district have been released.
Films, live music and a food and district festival form part of the bumper programme of events confirmed by Ashfield District Council.
The events will take place from June through to August.
Here is what you can expect and all the dates:
Films in the Park
Selston Country Park will be the location for Films in the Park on Saturday, June 22, running from 12noon to 10pm.
Two outdoor cinema screenings will take place on the day.
The titles have not yet been confirmed but the 1pm showing will be a family film and a second movie will be shown from 6.30pm.
In addition to the films, there will also be a bar, inflatables, face painting and acoustic music acts playing at the café.
Hucknall Fest
This brand new event will take place on Titchfield Park on Saturday, July 6, from 11am-10pm.
The event will include live music with tribute acts, bands and artists playing until 9pm.
Music will be the main focus of Hucknall Fest but there will also be a family funfair, food and drink stalls, market stalls, a dog agility course, free face painting and, for the young members of the community, a meet and greet with children’s characters.
Ashfield Show
The Ashfield Show will return to Sutton Lawn for the first time in more than 10 years.
It will run across three days, from Friday, August 9 through to Sunday, August 11.
All three days will features a funfair, street food , bars and a market village.
Ashfield Food and Drink Festival
The festival will be back and ‘bigger than ever’ as it arrives on Hucknall high street on Sunday, August 18, from 10am to 4pm.
The event will include a range of stalls selling street food, different produce and alcoholic drinks.
Latest parliamentary candidates announced
Alexander Coates is the latest parliamentary candidate announced for Ashfield.
Mr Coates will stand for the Green Party, it has been confirmed.
Other candidates confirmed for the seat so far are, in alphabetical order, Lee Anderson for Reform, Rhea Keehn for Labour and Jason Zadrozny for the Ashfield Independents.
Candidates confirmed so far for the Sherwood Forest constituency, which covers areas including Hucknall, are, in alphabetical order, David Dobbie (Liberal Democrats), Sheila Greatrex-White (Green Party), Helen Rose O’Hare (Reform UK) and Mark Spencer (Conservative and Unionist Party).
Arrest after late-night disturbance
Police have arrested an Ashfield man after a woman suffered injuries to her arms, legs and face during an alleged assault in Lincolnshire.
Officers were called to reports of a disturbance at the Waterside Leisure Park in Anchor Lane, Ingoldmells, just after 1.10am on Monday, May 27.
A woman in her 30s reported being assaulted.
Lincolnshire Police says a woman was discovered at the scene in need of assistance.
Damage had also been caused to a caravan, the outside gate and a mobile phone, the force said.
Both individuals were believed to have been known to each other.
Steven Hodgkinson, 35, of Cherry Avenue, Kirkby in Ashfield, has been charged with eight offences that were alleged to have taken place in the early hours of Monday, May 27.
The charges include assault by beating, two counts of criminal damage, aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent, driving while disqualified, drink driving, driving without insurance, and failing to stop.
