Ashfield and Sherwood Forest election results in full
Ashfield was described as too close to call by pollsters
Reform candidate Lee Anderson has been returned as MP for Ashfield during a night of high drama in the general election.
Labour was projected to gain more than 400 seats and the Conservatives down to just around 130 seats, in one of the biggest collapses in British political history.
While all the polls in the run up to election day clearly gave Labour a national majority, none could agree on a projected winner in Ashfield, with polls in the final week describing it as too close to call between Reform and Labour.
However, with a turnout of 58%, Lee Anderson, for Reform UK, held on to his seat with 17,062 votes, a majority of 5,508.
Labour’s Rhea Keehn came second with 11,554 votes and Jason Zadrozny, for Ashfield Independents, third with 6,276.
The Conservatives were pushed into fourth with 3,271 votes.
Meanwhile, in Sherwood Forest, which encompasses areas including Hucknall, Conservative Sir Mark Spencer, who had been in office since 2010, lost his seat to Labour.
Labour candidate Michelle Welsh was announced as the winner with 18,841 votes.
Sir Mark’s share of the vote fell to 13,398.
